RUDA Signs MoU for Ravi City Vegetable Market

Lahore: Punjab Agriculture and Livestock Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani announced that the upcoming vegetable market in Ravi City will be one of the best in Asia, with top-tier infrastructure and enhanced accessibility.

Speaking at an MoU signing ceremony on Thursday, Kirmani shared that Metro and Speedo bus services would be extended to the market, providing convenient transport for laborers and vendors. The project is set to be inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz soon.

The memorandum was signed between Punjab Agriculture Marketing Regulatory Authority (PAMRA) Director General Tariq Basra and Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) CEO Imran Amin, marking the establishment of the new vegetable market in the RUDA region. Attendees included RUDA COO Brigadier Mansoor Janjua, Executive Director Commercial Kashif Qureshi, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, and DG Agriculture Information Naveed Asmat Kahloon.

RUDA CEO Imran Amin provided additional details, noting that the 300-acre market will have direct access from major routes, including GT Road and the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway. Set for completion in 18 months, the market will feature international-standard infrastructure, an export zone for fruits and vegetables, cold storage facilities, warehouses, commission agent shops, petrol stations, and ample parking. RUDA will manage cleanliness, while PAMRA will oversee operations.

PAMRA DG Tariq Basra also mentioned ongoing negotiations with commission agents regarding the relocation of the Badami Bagh vegetable market, with 50% agreeing to move to the new Kala Khatai market, and efforts to convince the remaining agents continuing.
